Introduction & background

SODO Charity Organization Uganda was established in 2023 with a mission to uplift vulnerable communities through sensitization, awareness and charitable action. Our work focuses on education, health and social welfare, driven by the belief that sustainable development begins with empowering the underprivileged.

In 2023 and 2024 we undertook significant community outreach programs in Sembabule, Wakiso, Jinja and Namutumba — providing essential scholastic materials, tuition, basic needs and support to schools, the elderly, widows, orphans, hospitals and religious institutions.

Highlights

Activities across 2023 – 2024.

2023 · Sembabule
Pilot outreach in Sembabule District

Following a pilot study, SODO conducted its first community outreach visiting Kasongi Primary School, Serinya Primary School, Lugazi UMEA Primary School, Sembabule Main Hospital and an elderly group — donating scholastic materials, sanitary pads, sugar, shoes, school bags and welfare items.

2023 · Sembabule
Support for pupils travelling long distances

At Serinya P/S, pupils shared how they arrive late after long walks and household chores. SODO began identifying children like Nalubiri Maxensia (Kasongi P/S) for potential boarding-school sponsorship.

2024 · Wakiso
Holy Qur'an Distribution Program

Distribution of over 1,000 copies of the Holy Qur'an to Makerere KOFS Primary School — a school of more than 1,200 pupils, most of whom are orphans — following customs clearance of the donated consignment.

2024 · Multi-district
Village clothing distribution drives

Clothing distributed to hundreds of families across Kakuba Village (Namutumba), Kasongi Village (Sembabule), Serinya Playground (over 500 families) and Busheeka Village (Sembabule) — accompanied by community feasts.

Objectives of outreach
  • 01 Support education by providing scholastic materials to underprivileged schools and pupils.
  • 02 Improve the welfare of the elderly by donating essential items.
  • 03 Enhance healthcare services by supplying basic needs to patients.
  • 04 Promote religious inclusion by donating appropriate attire and materials to Muslim communities.
